Butternut Fritters (Toddler/Baby-Friendly)

Soft, lightly sweet fritters made with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup self-raising flour (helps prevent oily fritters)
  • ½ medium butternut, peeled and cubed
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup sugar (optional)
  • Milk, as needed
  • Oil, for frying

Method

  1. Steam the butternut until fully cooked and very soft.
  2. Mash the butternut in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour, self-raising flour, salt, and sugar (if using). Mix well.
  4. Gradually add milk until a thick batter forms.
  5. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
  6. Spoon batter into the hot oil and fry until the fritter floats to the top and is golden brown on both sides.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towel. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Sugar is optional and can be omitted for babies.
  • Ensure fritters are cooled and cut appropriately for toddlers before serving
