
Ingredients
- ½ cup Yellow dhal (rinsed and washed)
- 1 small jam tomato, chopped
- 1 stem curry leaves
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon crushed garlic
- ¼ onion, thinly sliced
- ½ teaspoon cumin (jeera) seeds
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Juice of a lemon
- Water, as needed
Method
- Rinse and wash the dhal thoroughly. Place it in a pot with enough water to cook.
- Add the chopped tomato, curry leaves, turmeric, crushed garlic, Bring to a boil and cook until the dhal is very soft.
- Once fully cooked, remove the curry leaf stem and blend the mixture until smooth.
- In a separate pan, heat a little oil and fry the sliced onion with the cumin seeds and mustard seeds until the onion is golden and fragrant.
- Add the blended dhal mixture to the pan and stir well. Let it simmer for a few minutes until everything is well combined.
- Finish by stirring in the butter and lemon juice for flavor.
Serve warm with Jasmin rice.
